Hiba Hariri is 14. She's acting in a play, along with her boyfriend. They have a fight, and then the trouble begins. This piece is a good model for the basic narrative paradigm of complication, development and resolution. And Hayasaki's scene-writing and character portrayal make the story lively and entertaining.

The piece, not surprisingly, reminds us of "A Stage in Their Lives," Ken Fuson's classic story for The Baltimore Sun, also a foray into the high drama—and ordinary stage productions—of teenagers.
