His work has garnered statewide recognitions, including the Harrison “Skip” Weber Investigative Reporting and Associated Press Media Editors awards for an explanatory feature about a police shooting in rural Wisconsin along with an Iowa Newspaper Association award for a series that detailed the impacts of the loss of social safety-net programs on Dubuque’s Marshallese community. He studied psychology, gender studies and history at Washington University in St. Louis and the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
