Lori Shontz is a senior instructor of journalism at the University of Oregon and co-director of Writing Central, the School of Journalism and Communication’s peer writing support program. She previously spent more than two decades as a writer and editor at publications including the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, St. Louis Post-Dispatch and The Miami Herald.
