Cynthia Gorney is a award-winning writer and book author who reported for the the national, international and Style sections of The Washington Post. She has been a contributing writer for several national magazines, including The New York Times Magazine and National Geographic. She is an emeritus journalism professor at the University of California at Berkeley.
