I am so incredibly thankful for everyone in journalism who has gone before — all the reporters, chewing all the gum and smoking all the cigarettes and drinking all the coffee and triple-checking all their facts and waking up in the middle of the night to revisit their lede and staying up through the night to find the kicker.
Hardly anybody thanks journalists for anything these days. And yet their work is so crucial, so fundamental to finding our way forward, day by day, fact by fact, First Amendment by First Amendment.
